Burçin Başar explores issues of identity, social events, and the ideological constructs imposed on individuals through political processes. Her works reflect social violence born from oppression and chaos, as well as psychological reflections, elements of fear, and mystery. She investigates the sociological, psychological, and political structures that shape human experience and their interrelations. Themes of memory, existential struggles underlying political games, and the tension between the personal and the collective are central to her conceptual and creative practice. Başar’s abstract imagery manifests as an inquiry into these issues, whether on a grand or intimate scale. While primarily focused on painting, she also incorporates sculpture, video, and installation into her artistic practice.
