Artist Announcement I Tayfun Gülnar

Şubat 2017

x-ist is pleased to announce that young painter Tayfun Gülnar joined the gallery in the new year.

Born in 1992, the artist graduated from the Avni Akyol Anatolian Fine Arts High School Painting Department in 2009 and afterwards did his undergraduate study at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Painting Department.

The young artist conveys an alternative universe, where colours vanish, to his canvases and his recent works in series “Eternal Cycle”, “Invasion” and “Demolish” take shape around a plot of successive events.

“The ‘Eternal Cycle’ series features scenes related to events caused by power holders, who attain fear by planting infertile seeds in the subconscious of the society, and by misgovernment. This series includes a construct of social order experiencing the psychological effects of chaos. An eyewitness refers to a geography having social problems such as inequality, discrimination, violence. While knives serve to the chaos, they speed up the act of bisection. In the series ‘Invasion’, the invaders carry everywhere the disease, the corruption, the thing that people have blind confidence in, which come out of the dirty depths of the pervading destruction. So this indicates to a dark plot created by a decaying social order. And the ‘Demolish’ series predicts the harmful effects of crime, violence and destruction in the presence of the chaos leaking out of all these cracks.
