The third edition of 'Contemporary Istanbul' Art Fair is meeting with art lovers in October instead of December. Contemporary Istanbul is taking place this year between October 2008 16-19 in the Rumeli Halls of the Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center situated in Nişantaşı district of Istanbul. The fair is of critical importance for the cultural life of Istanbul and the international promotion of the city and is realized with the advisory support of major art collectors, hosting thousands of art works from all media (including painting, sculpture, photography, video art and digital art) and by hundreds of artists from around the globe. Akbank Private Banking has signed to be the main sponsor of the fair for next three years to come. In this way, the cooperation started last year with the sponsorship of Akbank Private Banking to Contemporary Istanbul VIP Lounge has evolved into a continuous partnership. Together with Akbank's sponsorship, introduced to the whole world, Contemporary Istanbul has signed this year special promotion contracts with 28 magazines in 14 countries. In order to promote the fair internationally, Contemporary Istanbul Chairman Ali Güreli and his team composed of Çetin Güzelhan, Emin Mahir Balcıoğlu, Ceren Arkman ve Özlem Ünsal will participate to Art Basel taking place in June 3-8 and will make contact with art galleries along with international foundations.
